Foundations of Indian Martial Arts (Kalaripayat)

(September 7th - September 28, 2025, 4 Classes) 

The best way to honor our bodies is to have a routine that works for us in building strength, mobility. Kalaripayat can be considered a sister practice to Yoga. This traditional Indian Martial Art form enhances focus, coordination, and a deeper sense of mind-body connection.

 

Over 4 classes, you will move through full body warm ups, mobility, strength, coordination and flexibility training. We work on the mat as well as across the floor, to support a healthy heart, lungs and mind. This training includes aspects of moving meditation and breathwork inviting a sense of balanced energy.

All levels welcome. No martial arts experience necessary.

Prenatal Yoga & Wellness Fall 2025

Wednesdays 4pm - 5:30pm 
September 3rd - 24th, 4 Classes

Shakti's Prenatal Yoga is a gentle and effective way for expectant mothers to pause, connect and maintain their flexibility, strength, and balance. 

At any stage of pregnancy, a mindful yoga practice offers immense benefits for mother and baby. Our classes will include focused breathing with appropriate yoga poses, as well as elements of guided meditation to reduce stress, promote better sleep, and prepare the mind and body for labor.


Prenatal yoga encourages proper posture, which can help alleviate common discomforts like back pain. Beyond the physical benefits, it offers a supportive space to connect with other pregnant women, fostering a sense of community and emotional well-being. Always consult with a healthcare provider before beginning any new exercise routine during pregnancy. These classes will include guidance on self-care, rituals, foods and other holistic practices for pregnancy and post-delivery.

Even if you are new to yoga, you are welcome. This is a gentle type of yoga practice. If you have questions before signing up, please feel free to reach out to us via our contact page.

Yoga Class
Yoga Foundations 
 

Whether you are brand new to yoga or returning after a long break, this foundations class will serve as an initiation into the practice of Hatha Yoga. We will focus on the fundamentals of yoga and the eight limbs through guided practice. 
 

Learn about the various asanas (postures), breath, mindful practices and most importantly how yoga can support us in your day-to-day life and bring balance & aligment. Whether you seek flexibility or strength, mental clarity or a feeling of peace, yoga has so much to offer. 
 

This series is open to youth, ages 9+, families or parent-child together. For more info & pricing for parent & child  / family registration, email namaste@shaktiatx.com. All classes will be held in-studio with an option to attend via Livestream, please inform your Instructor if Livestream is needed. 

 

NOTE : We understand that life happens, so all participants receive 1 make up-pass to attend that may be applied to another studio class.

From my experience, Annelize is amazing in the wellness and private yoga areas of her practice. After enjoying enjoyed several sessions over a six-month period, I found that each was personalized for me so I received maximum benefit for my issues and concerns. As part of the sessions, I benefitted from her gentle introduction to Ayurvedic dietary suggestions, which were new to me. In addition, recent medical issues made it difficult for me to continue to routinely participate in standard yoga classes, so during my recovery, Annelize’s coaching in the one-on-one yoga sessions helped me with necessary modifications and pacing. Annelize’s training and experience have provided her with an abundance of knowledge that translated well to what I’ve needed, and she never made me feel out of my depth. She followed up my sessions with additional information and checked in to be sure I was doing well with my “homework.” I hesitate to leave this review because as other folks find out about this gem of a practitioner, I may have difficulty scheduling more time with her.
